Eagle Island's natural setting requires campers to walk as their primary means of transportation, often covering up to a mile or more each day over uneven and sometimes rugged terrain. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, it’s essential that campers bring sturdy, comfortable walking shoes. Additionally, we encourage families to consider their camper’s ability to navigate rough terrain and ensure they are physically prepared for Eagle Island Camp.

At Eagle Island Camp, we intentionally create an unplugged camp experience where campers step away from screens and fully engage in nature and island life. Because of this, technology—including photography—plays a limited role in our daily program. Our goal is to capture the spirit of the Eagle Island community, not every individual moment. Throughout the summer, families can expect photo updates and glimpses of camp life shared weekly on our Instagram at @eagleislandcamp, along with periodic camp updates from our team. This is a chance to visit Eagle Island before camp this summer! Meet the staff, see the property, and enjoy a s'more or two. Both days are designed for staggered arrivals. After riding one of our pontoon boats over to the island we will have guided tours of the property where you will be able to ask questions and see where campers spend their time at camp. Tours will end by a campfire with s'mores.

You can also check out our Camp Map! Please note that on check-in days we do not have enough boat space for families to go over to the island with their campers. Our counselors will help campers unpack, set up their beds, and get settled.

Campers staying longer than two weeks can "add on" a weekend to extend their stay up to six weeks without going home. Select the weekend "add-on" in CampDoc for sessions over two weeks; note that this requires staying for the following week, not leaving on Sunday.

Laundry service is available for $28 for up to 10 pounds per camper, collected mid-week and returned in a day or two. Anything over 10 lbs will be billed through CampDoc. Add this option during registration in CampDoc. For more details, contact campdirector@eagleisland.org.

We know that being away from home can be challenging, and it’s normal for some kids to feel homesick at first. Our caring counselors are here to support your camper, help them through any difficulties, and ensure they feel comfortable while enjoying their time at Eagle Island. If homesickness affects your camper’s participation for more than 24 hours, we’ll reach out to you. You can always contact Katrina at 518-323-9424, or email us at campdirector@eagleisland.orgfor updates. We’ll check in with your camper and their counselor during the next meal and keep you informed. While we understand missing home, limiting phone calls helps campers connect with their peers and make the most of their camp experience.

Our camp philosophy is based on our mission statement which ensures that every camper has the opportunity to challenge themselves, learn new things, and build lasting and meaningful friendships. Children who are bullied may not have the same potential to get the most out of their camp experience. For that reason, we maintain a strict policy which forbids bullying behavior. We address all incidents of bullying seriously and train staff to promote communication between campers and counselors so both will be comfortable alerting us to any problems in their camp experience. Every child has the right to have the best possible experience at camp.

Expected Behavior

• Reporting to an adult if you are getting someone out of danger or observing unacceptable behavior.

• Being helpful and courteous to children and adults.

• Defending and speaking out for others if they are picked on or appear upset.

• Including others in group activities and sharing.

• Helping others work out a disagreement.

• Helping to keep camp clean and neat.

• Being respectful to all children and adults.

• Respecting privacy in the bathroom, shower, and while changing.

Unacceptable Behavior

• Tattling on someone just to get them in trouble.

• Pushing, hitting, shoving, kicking, biting, and threatening.

• Name-calling, teasing, or using inappropriate language.

• Excluding others from group activities or not sharing.

• Spreading rumors, gossiping, embarrassing, putting down, or making fun of others.

• Stealing, destroying, or defacing property.

• Being defiant, insubordinate, rude, or mocking another person.

• Inappropriate touching.

Each camper agrees to our Camp Code of Conduct during the CampDoc registration process and again on the first day of camp. If a camper violates these rules or engages in disruptive behavior, a parent or guardian will be contacted and may be required to pick up their child from Eagle Island.

All final camp payments are due on or before May 15 in your CampDoc account.
