Our Leadership Program Philosophy

This two-week program is an opportunity to gain leadership skills while also participating in regular camp activities as a camper. Spend part of your day gaining knowledge on how camp is created by seeing the behind-the-scenes work at summer camp. Learn how working at camp can help you in any future career by participating in special experiences including learning about youth development, professional communication, event planning, team building, resume writing, and meeting with a college prep coach. During your second week, you will get to put what you have learned into action by working with your teammates to create and run a program activity for younger campers. You will also get to participate as a camper in camp activities such as swimming, sailing, paddling, nature, arts and crafts, and more.

Lodging

Junior Leadership Boathouse

Campers in the Junior Leadership Program will be staying in the Boat House. This accommodation option has 3 bedrooms. The two lake-facing rooms are for campers and house between 3-4 participants on twin camp cots or bunk beds. Each camper will have their own bed and a small space to store their belongings. There is electricity and a shared bathroom with a toilet, shower, and two sinks.

*To safely participate in sailing, campers must pass a deep water swim assessment. This will at minimum include:

–A feet first entry into water over the camper’s head
–Treading water for at least 1 minute
–Maintain position on back for at least 1 minute
–Swim 40 yards continuously using any stroke or combination of strokes (not including doggy paddling)
–Rotate 360 degrees in the water and orient to the exit
–Exit the water onto the dock without assistance
