Our Beliefs
We see summer camp as an extension of each camper's education, offering hands-on activities that cater to their unique skills and abilities. At Eagle Island Camp, we provide a safe, unplugged environment for campers and staff to reconnect with nature, explore freely, and engage in STEAM-inspired outdoor learning to deepen their connection with the environment.
Activities
Every activity we offer throughout the day has meaning and skill building behind it. Plus, they can be just plain fun.
Boating & Sailing
Our fleet includes kayaks, canoes, rowboats, CORCLs (easy-to-maneuver small boats), and Mercury Sailboats, ideal for learning to sail due to their stability and handling. Boating activities cover safe launching, steering, and docking for each type.
Swimming
Campers receive daily swim instruction, from basic skills to advanced strokes, and enjoy free swim time, water carnivals, and swimming games.
Nature Education
We offer nature-based activities focused on becoming good stewards of the island, the Adirondacks, and our planet, including learning about local flora and fauna, conservation, and Leave No Trace principles.
Camper Choice Activities
Our amazing staff lead activities like Spanish, drumming, learning about bugs found on the island, puzzles, knitting, group games, cloud watching, kite creation, singing, dancing, and more!
Camper-Led Play
We let campers take charge of their own adventures! Rather than adults deciding activities, campers choose, lead, explore their interests, make new friends, and develop leadership skills—all while having fun.
Teambuilding
Teambuilding at summer camp is a vital component of creating a positive and inclusive camp experience.
Campers learn how to communicate, support, and trust each other so that together, they can conquer challenges, solve exciting puzzles, and make unforgettable memories.

Eagle Island's natural setting requires campers to walk as their primary means of transportation, often covering up to a mile or more each day over uneven and sometimes rugged terrain. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, it’s essential that campers bring sturdy, comfortable walking shoes. Additionally, we encourage families to consider their camper’s ability to navigate rough terrain and ensure they are physically prepared for Eagle Island Camp.
