Camper Check-In on Sunday

Check-In Overview: What to Expect

During check-in, families will move through several stations. Please review the information below so you can be prepared and help the process run smoothly. Staff members will be stationed at each step to assist.

Station 1: Welcome & Check-In
A staff member will greet you with the roster and begin your camper’s check-in. We’ll make note of any missing forms or documents in your camper’s Health Profile. While campers go through the next station, we’ll privately ask families if they have mail to drop off—we’ll have a labeled basket available for collecting it.

Station 1, Part 2: Health Screening
We’ll perform a quick temperature check and lice screening. We also encourage families to do a lice check at home before arriving to help things move quickly.

Station 2: Medication Drop-Off
If your camper has medication, please bring it in the original packaging. We’ll collect it along with the required forms. A staff member will be there to ensure everything is logged and ready for safe handling during the session.

Station 3: Bus Prep & Day Bag
At this station, we’ll help label campers’ sleeping spaces using masking tape and name tags. Please make sure your camper arrives with a small backpack that includes a swimsuit, towel, water bottle, and anything else they might need on the bus. This bag should be separate from their main luggage.

Thanks for helping us make check-in smooth and welcoming for all campers!

Travel & Bus Expectations

Cell Phone Use During Travel

Campers are permitted to use their cell phones during the bus ride to Eagle Island, and outlets will be available on board. Once we arrive at camp, all phones will be collected and securely stored for the duration of the session.

We encourage campers to send a quick update to their families during the trip, especially as we get closer to arrival, before phones are turned in. We will notify families once we have arrived to Eagle Island Camp via CampDoc.

If families need to reach us urgently while the campers are en route, please contact the Camp Directors at campdirector@eagleisland.org or 518-323-9424.

Bus Ride Guidelines

All campers are expected to uphold the Eagle Island Code of Conduct and show respectful behavior throughout the trip. Our goal is to arrive at camp on time, so we do not anticipate making rest stops—restrooms are available on the bus.

Camper Conduct at Eagle Island

At Eagle Island, we strive to create a community where everyone feels safe, supported, and included. Our mission centers on helping campers challenge themselves, try new things, and build lasting friendships. Bullying or unkind behavior undermines that mission, so we take it seriously and address it immediately.

Positive Behavior We Expect

  • Speaking up to a staff member if someone needs help or is in danger.

  • Including others in group activities and showing kindness to everyone.

  • Using respectful language and behavior with peers and adults.

  • Helping keep the bus clean and welcoming.

  • Supporting others in resolving conflicts in a respectful way.

Behavior That’s Not Accepted

  • Physical aggression (hitting, kicking, pushing, etc.).

  • Name-calling, teasing, or using hurtful language.

  • Bullying, excluding others, or spreading gossip.

  • Taking or damaging someone else’s belongings.

  • Defiant, mocking, or disrespectful behavior toward others.

  • Inappropriate touching or invasion of personal space.

We’re committed to making Eagle Island a place where every camper can thrive—and with your support, we can make that happen.
