Swim Lessons and Waterfront

Swim Lessons
Each camper receives daily swim lessons under the direction of an American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructor. Campers are grouped based on ability and work throughout the week on developing comfort in the water. Our goal is for each camper to progress in their swimming ability. Whether that is working throughout the week to put their feet in the water or perfecting the butterfly.

Free Swim
When campers are not in their swim lesson they are able to free swim at the waterfront. We have 3 swimming areas increasing in depth with the deepest being about 6 ft. Campers can swim, play water basketball, use a variety of floating and diving toys, just float and chat with friends.
-
Beach Time
Some campers choose to play at the shoreline. Eagle Island has a variety of sand toys that campers enjoy using to build castles, rivers, mounds, and more.
-
Kayaks
Campers have access to our fleet of sit-on-top kayaks to paddle around our swim area cove. If there is not a paddling track out during the time, campers can also use the sit-in kayaks.
-
Corcls
Corcls are plastic circular boats with hard bottoms. They are great at teaching different paddling strokes as campers can get a sense of how each stroke affects the boat. But truthfully, these boats are also really fun to just spin around in circles. One or two campers can go out in a corcl at a time.

Staying Dry
Not everyone wants to be in the water and that’s ok! During waterfront time campers can opt to stay at our picnic table or sailboat seating spaces. We keep a program box stocked with cards, games, friendship bracelet string, and other activities for campers to use.
We do ask campers to at least sit on the dock with their group during their swim lesson.
