Boating

Teambuilding and communication skills develop when campers must learn to work together and give clear directions to successfully steer the boat.

Problem solving and resilience when the wind direction changes, campers must work together to navigate the new water conditions.

Swimming

Safely developing life skills along with learning to support and check in with each other using the buddy system.

Self-discovery when campers learn they can do more than they initially thought as their skills develop throughout their time at camp.

Camp Goals and Objectives for Campers

  • Goals & Objectives: Each camper will be able to cooperate with and gain respect for others by working and playing harmoniously in a group environment.

    Indicators of Achievement: Demonstrates acceptance and tolerance for other campers and staff.

  • Goals & Objectives: Each camper will become more independent and confident by making choices, planning, and participating in programs.

    Indicators of Achievement: Demonstrates increased clarity of communication to other campers and staff. Demonstrates responsibility in taking care of themselves.

  • Goals & Objectives: Each camper will gain confidence through stepping outside their comfort zone and trying new things.

    Indicators of Agreement: Demonstrates a higher willingness to take on new challenges with a decreased fear of failure.

  • Goals & Objectives: Each camper will become more adept in introductory and/or mastery level activities in all program areas and challenged to improve their personal fitness.

    Indicators of Achievement: Demonstrates improved skills and safety. Participates in activities that are physically challenging.

  • Goals & Objectives: Each camper will take responsibility for themselves, complete daily grove quests, and plan and implement activities that improve their camp and protect our island environment and the surrounding water.

    Indicators of Achievement: Participates in activities that utilize the natural resources of the campsite. Practices minimal impact camping and living lightly off the land.

  • Goals & Objectives: Each camper will follow the proper safety procedures at all camp activities.

    Indicators of Achievement: Safety issue violations will be lower.

  • Goals & Objectives: Each camper will plan and participate in grove programs. Additionally, each camper will get to choose what activities they would like to do through interest tracks.

    Indicators of Achievement: Demonstrates being involved and excited by camp programs.

  • Goals & Objectives: Each camper will be exposed to interaction with other children through grove and all camp programs.

    Indicators of Achievement: Demonstrates comfort in the camp setting appropriate to age level and experience.

Nature Education

Confidence in knowing more about the world around them and how to use the resources of the local ecosystem.

Gratitude and mindfulness in taking time to appreciate nature and the surrounding environment.

Camper Choice Activities

Decision-making when taking ownership of part of their daily schedule in choosing which activity to attend.

Deeping friendships provide an opportunity for campers to spend more time with other campers who have similar interests.
