Volunteer - Summer 2017
2016 was a busy summer on Eagle Island, VOLUNTEERS spent days, weekends and in some cases weeks on the island working on a variety of projects.
What’s been happening during the winter months?
- Engineers are designing the water, septic and electrical plans.
- Historic Preservation Architects prepared a "Condition Assessment" that includes work prioritization.
- Estimates from contractors for larger projects are being evaluated as start a busy 2017.
How can I help in 2017?
There is plenty of work for unskilled and enthusiastic volunteers. If you have a particular skill like carpentry, plumbing, electrical or masonry we have a number of projects that require those skills as well.
Examples of ongoing and upcoming 2017 volunteer projects: rebuilding infirmary porch, repair shingling on east side of guest/staff house, painting new side of service dock, interior painting of infirmary and cleaning up brush around the island.
This appeal is for individual assistance and not a formal work weekend. And, NO running water yet (port-o-johns and bottled water are provided).
(Must be 14 years old and accompanied by parent/guardian to participate)
