A Permanent Home for Eagle Island Memories

Friends of Eagle Island is thrilled to announce that Buz Graves has generously offered the first floor in his permanent home in Saranac Lake as an Eagle Island Archive in order to preserve and celebrate Eagle Island Camp (EIC)’s heritage.

Summer camps are and have been an important part of life in the Adirondacks.  We hope to preserve the artifacts of Eagle Island and allow people to see and learn about the history of this extraordinary camp. Former Eagle Island campers, staff and their families who love Eagle Island would be able to stop at the archives and read log entries they wrote, remember their years as counselor or camper, or view pictures showing life at EIC through 77 years—and perhaps be inspired to further support the Girl Scouts in their endeavors to give girls the opportunities for adventure and self-discovery that these artifacts represent.

We have recently reached out to the Girl Scouts for their consideration in donating or to give on permanent loan items such as the sailing “logs”, plaques and photos.
